FAQs

DO YOU USE THE SAME APPROACH WITH EVERY PERSON YOU SEE ?

  • No… TIME TO MELT, takes an individualized approach to nutrition, no two people are the same, nor are two peoples cultures, taste buds or ailments.

DO YOU USE AN INTEGRATIVE AND HOLISTIC APPROACH AS A PRACTITIONER ?

  • Yes… Our practice is fully Integrative and Holistic. We combine the scientific aspects of Nutritional Biochemistry with a wealth of knowledge from holistic traditional nutritional wisdom that has been passed down from generation to generation.

DO YOU USE LAB TESTS TO TEST FOR NUTRITIONAL RELATED HEALTH ISSUES ?

  • Yes… We conduct scientific state-of-the-art nutritional related lab tests. Our tests detect: Deficiencies (vitamins/minerals), G.I. Abnormalities (sibo/candida/leaky gut), Chronic Inflammation, Organ System Ailments (liver/kidney/gallbladder), Malabsorption Issues, Thyroid Abnormalities (hashimotos/graves), Hormonal Imbalances (pcos), Blood Sugar Irregularities and Electrolyte Deficiencies.

WHY DO YOU TAKE A “ FOOD FIRST ” APPROACH WITH YOUR PRACTICE ?

  • Because unfortunately too many first time clients come to my practice having spent thousands of dollars on supplements with well-intentioned practitioners and they still are unaware of what foods work best with their bodies. It’s important for us to not lose sight of the fact that food is the ultimate supplement.

WHY DON’T YOU USE THE “ PILL FOR AN ILL ” APPROACH FOR YOUR PRACTICE ?

  • The over prescription of medications, supplements and herbs are rampant in our culture. Called the “Pill for an Ill” model. Yes, it enriches practitioners, however, it is not a preventative approach to health and it doesn’t address root causes of ailments. Now supplements are also currently being sold on social media platforms by individuals with no medical background or herbal background, mixing random herbs together that may cause permanent damage to your health or be life threatening.

ARE YOU KNOWLEDGEABLE IN CUISINES AND DIETARY HABITS OTHER THAN THE TYPICAL WESTERN HEALTH FOODS THAT ARE COMMONLY RECOMMENDED BY MOST NUTRITIONISTS (IE: QUINOA & KALE) ?

  • Yes… I have deep love for cultures and cultural cuisines of the world. I have tailored my work for clients that are from all areas of the world (Asia, Northern/ Southern Europe, Central/ South America, Africa) and religious dietary practices (Halal, Kosher, Orthodox).

WHY DID YOU BECOME A REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONIST (RD or RDN) BEFORE STARTING YOUR INTEGRATIVE NUTRITION PRACTICE ?

  • Because I wanted to become a real nutritionist. Be wary of any practitioners giving food, nutrition or supplement advice without an RD or RDN attached to their title, as this will ensure your nutritionist has the proper training, education and licensure.

DID YOU GET YOUR NUTRITION DEGREE ONLINE ?

  • No… I was a student at a traditional University, completing both my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Nutrition & Dietetics, a year of clinical rotations in a Hospital, 1200 hours of supervised practice and additional year of post-graduate studies for the Nutrition Medical Boards and Licensure.

WHAT IS SCOPE OF PRACTICE ?

  • “Scope of Practice” is very important in healthcare, knowing where one’s expertise lies and another’s expertise begins. I fully adhere to “Scope of Practice” and I commonly refer to experts in other fields. However, when it comes to nutrition, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is the only real expert.

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER SEEKING OUT A REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONIST (RD OR RDN) FOR NUTRITION ADVICE ?

  • Would you trust a veterinarian to do your dental work? Or a person that read a few really good books on surgery to be your surgeon? Nutrition is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist’s field of expertise.
